At CMF Acoustics, we design and manufacture acoustic panels that balance performance with finish. We believe in transparency, technical accuracy and craftsmanship.

Origins
"It began with a passion — not a business plan."
From pro studio to project studio.
Hi, I’m Fil Jusufovski — founder of CMF Acoustics. In 2008, while studying audio engineering, I noticed that all the studios were lined with fabric. It wasn’t until later that I realised — they were actually acoustic panels. Passionate about music since childhood, I was familiar with acoustic foam, but I hadn’t seen a design like this before. I wanted to bring that studio standard into my own setup to improve monitoring.
After a bit of research, I sourced the same fabric and colour I’d seen in the studios and with a rough sketch in hand, began the build — learning as I went. The two finished and installed panels made a small but noticeable difference. Just enough to hear the audio more clearly. The lipstick‑red fabric added something unexpected. A sense of warmth. The textured panels changed how the room felt while I sat at my desk, not just how it sounded. That’s when I realised I’d built something of value.
Prototype was oddly sized and lacked core density for a studio.
Website Launch
I launched cmfacoustics.info in 2009 with basic web design skills. Curious to see how the market would respond, I priced the panels sensibly so they’d be accessible to the average consumer. The acronym CMF started out as a simple name, but over time it came to represent something more meaningful — (C)olour • (M)aterial • (F)unction — adapted from the product-design principle Colour, Material, Finish.

First Projects
When the first order was received in 2009, I was elated, not just because of the sale, but because someone in government also saw value in the product. The panels were to be delivered to a media centre at the Australian Parliament building in Canberra. This was followed by the first supply and install commission for a conference room at SBS Radio - Federation Square, Melbourne.
Initial panels were offered only in Jute fabric
Demand
As the marketplace evolved over the years and demand often exceeded capacity, CMF caught the attention of GIK Acoustics (USA). Founder Glenn Kuras reached out and proposed a manufacturing arrangement in Australia under the GIK brand, though it ultimately didn’t move forward, it was an early recognition of CMF’s approach.
Micro-suede fabric and a 32kg/m3 core were introduced.
Refinements
The panel design was improved step by step. Sizing was already standardised to make manufacturing simpler and the backing board changed to both reduce weight and improve low-end performance. The next refinements were significant. I introduced a higher density 32kg/m3 core as standard and eventually consolidated fabrics. Jute, Duck and Micro‑suede options were offered for a while, but were discontinued in favour of Trilogy One — the industry’s most widely used fabric in Australia at the time. A professional wall mounting system was also added, designed so that panels sit perfectly straight and secure. With these changes, the product became a high-performance, pro-grade package, with only a minor price increase.
Flexible back design — Proven results
“For some time I was struggling to effectively reduce the unwanted bass resonance from my full range speakers. Like many others, my listening room was not purposefully built for hi-fi. I tried moving speakers, moving furniture, putting an extra rug, with very little or no effect.
Placing the R3-B CMF acoustic panels in corners of my room finally solved the problem.
Reducing the resonances in 60-85hz range resulted in more focused sound stage and provided the much-needed snap to the music.
CMF acoustic panels are also well made and aesthetically pleasing product. I consider them as a significant upgrade to my hi-fi system."

An Exciting New Addition
That period marked a turning point. Demand was still strong and it was time to expand the range. I launched an additional product, CMF Acoustic Art Panels — built on the same R3B base, but wrapped in custom image printed fabric, they quickly became a favourite in office spaces. Clients particularly appreciated the precision of the prints and the richness of the colours.

2025 and Onwards
I’m uninterested in imported products, hype, paid ads or chasing followers.
Acoustic panels by CMF Acoustics continue to evolve — now featuring an upgraded GECA‑certified fabric, sustainable timber construction and two core densities (standard and Core48).
After sixteen years and thousands of panels delivered, we continue to manufacture using an approach honed over time — balancing build quality, performance and aesthetics to deliver real value.
